Roads and Maritime Services will install traffic light metering sensors on the Homebush Bay Drive southbound off-ramp, at the intersection of Underwood Road and Australia Avenue.
The metering sensors will detect when the southbound vehicle queue on the Homebush Bay Drive off-ramp is reaching a length where it may overflow and block vehicles continuing on Homebush Bay Drive. The programming of the traffic lights at the roundabout will then adjust to allow more gap to clear the backlog of vehicles. This will ease congestion for motorists continuing southbound on Homebush Bay Drive and reduce the risk of rear-end crashes occurring at this location.
